DOMAIN THE CONDITIONING

DEFINITION:

The intentional shaping, management, and distribution of a story, interpretation, or explanation in order to influence perception, understanding, or behavior.

FUNCTION:

Guides how events, people, institutions, or ideas are understood by emphasizing certain interpretations while minimizing or excluding others.

EXAMPLES:

Political messaging
Corporate public relations
Historical narratives
Brand storytelling
Crisis communication
Media framing
Official explanations

NOTES:

Narratives influence understanding by organizing facts, events, and experiences into coherent stories. Different narratives can emerge from the same set of events depending on what is emphasized, omitted, or interpreted.

People rarely respond to raw information alone. Information becomes meaningful through narrative structures that explain what happened, why it happened, and what it means.
