A structured story, interpretation, or framework used to explain political events, policies, institutions, conflicts, leaders, or social conditions.

FUNCTION:

Shapes public understanding by organizing complex political realities into coherent explanations that influence opinion, identity, support, and opposition.

NOTES:

Political narratives simplify complex realities into stories that identify problems, assign causes, define allies and opponents, and propose solutions. Multiple competing narratives often coexist around the same events.

CONTROL TEXT OBSERVATION:

Political influence frequently depends less on controlling facts than on controlling the stories through which facts are interpreted. Competing groups often struggle not only over policy, but over the narrative framework used to understand reality itself.
