DEFINITION:

The condition that all forms, experiences, identities, structures, and living beings exist only for a finite period before changing, dissolving, or ending.

FUNCTION:

Establishes impermanence as a fundamental characteristic of existence, preventing permanence and fixed continuity.

NOTES:

Temporary existence applies equally to individuals, organizations, ideas, and systems. What appears permanent often persists only because its rate of change is difficult to perceive.
