DEFINITION:

A signal, message, warning, or notification intended to immediately attract attention by communicating urgency, importance, relevance, or potential significance.

FUNCTION:

Interrupts ongoing attention patterns and redirects focus toward a specific event, condition, threat, opportunity, or piece of information.

NOTES:
