DEFINITION:

A narrative, explanation, account, identity, justification, or description presented to conceal, obscure, redirect attention from, or protect information, motives, activities, relationships, or events.

FUNCTION:

Shapes interpretation by providing an alternative framework through which observers understand a situation, thereby influencing attention, perception, inquiry, and explanation.
