DEFINITION:

A model, representation, recreation, emulation, or constructed environment designed to imitate, explore, test, analyze, or visualize the behavior of a system, process, event, condition, or possible future state.

FUNCTION:

Allows individuals and systems to experiment with, rehearse, anticipate, visualize, interpret, or evaluate possible futures before they manifest in reality.
