DEFINITION:

The presence, transmission, storage, organization, differentiation, or communication of patterns, signals, relationships, distinctions, observations, structures, or data capable of reducing uncertainty or producing meaning.

FUNCTION:

Transforms uncertainty into structure by allowing distinctions, patterns, and relationships to become observable, communicable, and interpretable.

NOTES:

Information is not inherently meaningful. Meaning emerges when information is interpreted through language, symbols, narratives, beliefs, and contexts.

CONTROL TEXT OBSERVATION:

Information functions as a reality-substrate mechanism that provides the raw material from which symbolic systems emerge. Through information, distinctions become signals, signals become symbols, symbols become narratives, and narratives become realities. Control Text emerges when information is organized, filtered, prioritized, amplified, or suppressed in ways that shape perception, belief, identity, and power. The control of information often precedes the control of meaning.
