DEFINITION:

The capacity to influence, direct, shape, constrain, organize, amplify, suppress, or transform perception, attention, belief, identity, behavior, relationships, systems, resources, or reality.

FUNCTION:

Transforms influence into consequence by allowing symbols, narratives, beliefs, institutions, identities, or actors to shape the behavior and perceptions of others.

NOTES:

Power does not necessarily require force. Power may emerge through persuasion, legitimacy, symbolism, coordination, reputation, attention, information, institutions, or collective belief.

Power functions as a reality-shaping mechanism that transforms symbolic influence into observable outcomes. Through power, narratives become policies, beliefs become behaviors, identities become loyalties, and institutions become forces capable of directing collective action. Control Text emerges when the organization of meaning determines the organization of reality itself. The greatest forms of power often operate not through coercion, but through the shaping of what people perceive as normal, possible, desirable, or true.
